Comments | Foramen of Winslow hernia
- 1-8% of internal hernias - Intestinal segment : small bowel ( 60-70%) cecum and ascending colon(25-30%), rarely omentum or GB - Predisposing factor Enlarged foramen of Winslow Excessively mobile intestinal loops: long mesentery, ascending colon not fuse to parietal peritoneum.
- Forament of Winslow Lessesr sac and peritoneal cavity communicate through epiploic foramen of Winslow
- Image findings
Plain radiography : Gas containing intestinal loops high in the abdomen, medial and posterior to the stomach assciatd with small bowel obstruction
CT : - presence of mesentery between IVC and main portal vein - Air fluid collection in lesser sac with a beak directed toward foramen of Winslow - Abscesnce of ascending colon and cecum in usual location if they are involved viscera
